A business woman has been shot dead by armed robbers at Sultan Hamud market in Makueni County. Makueni county commissioner Mohammed Maalim said the woman was killed by thugs armed with a pistol and crude weapons at her Mpesa shop at around 9.00 pm on Thursday.
Maalim said the woman was shot on the stomach after she refused to surrender cash to the robbers which they had demanded for. “The thugs attacked the woman and shot her on the stomach after she resisted giving them the money she had made that day,” Maalim said. He said the woman died on her way to Sultan Hamud Hospital where she was being rushed by well wishers for medication.
Maalim said the same thugs went to Emali town the same night and attacked another M-pesa shop. “The lady failed to surrender cash to the robbers and instead raised alarm, residents came to her aid,” he added. He said the thugs escaped with her phone. Maalim said police officers had launched a manhunt for the suspects. “They will be caught and prosecuted, the police have began hunting for them,” Maalim said.
