West Ham United manager Manuel Pellegrini has denied suggestions that Jack Wilshere might have been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The England international has made just one appearance for the Hammers from the bench and that came in September. The 27-year old midfielder is battling a wriggling ankle injury that was a big concern even in his previous loan spells and even at Arsenal.

“No, because I’m not a doctor. We must wait for Jack when he comes back and sees how he feels. Those are all rumours, we cannot confirm 100 per cent. He’s just been resting for a couple of months so it will not be easy for him to recover his best shape as a player, but the important thing for me is that he must feel that he is OK, and has no pain in his ankle. After that, we will see what happens with him.” Pellegrini said when he was asked to give clarifications whether Wilshere will be out for the rest of the campaign.

West Ham will welcome Newcastle on Saturday for match week 29 action at London Stadium.
