Prior to his purchase by Barcelona, the Spaniard Dennis Suarez worked closely with Arsenal manager Unai Emery.
When his potential loan offer to Arsenal was put on the table, the young talent was more than willing to relocate to North London and learn the comprehensive points of the game under manager Emery.
Unfortunately, Suarez has struggled to make an impression since his January arrival, however, and Lee Dixon feels the 22-year-old could end up regretting his decision to leave Barcelona if he doesn’t force his way into the first team before the end of the season.
‘This league’s brutal, you can’t be messing about with it physically, you can’t be messing about mentally. You have to be bang on.
‘If he’s not quite on something, then the manager will see that and that’s probably why he’s not playing.
‘He might be nearly ready to go in and play so we can see what he can do from now until the end of the season, in which case his assessment will be made on those games,”
‘[Emery] might have already made his mind up and said, ‘I know his quality is there, I know what he’s got’.
‘From [Suarez’s] point of view, he’ll be doing everything he can to get a game. If he can’t get in between now and the end of the season, he might look at it and say ‘Why would I sign for Arsenal? I want to play.’
