Chelsea would need time to adopt to Sarri’s style, he explains

Maurizio Sarri on how long it will take Chelsea to adopt to his style

Maurizio Sarri says he is still unsure of how long it will take for Chealsea to adapt to his style of play.

The 60-year-old has come under heavy criticism from both fans and the press regarding his unwillingness to change his tactics to suit the Premier League.

“It’s impossible to answer,” the former Napoli boss said in an exclusive interview with Sky Sports: “Sometimes three months is enough, sometimes you need one season or one season and a half. I think if you change country, change football, it is longer.

Asked about the criticism he said: “I am without reaction because first of all in my mind I want to play our football in the right way. The first target is to play in the right way, to have a great level of organization, to be able to come out to every problem on the pitch, and I don’t want to change before my team is able to play my football in the perfect way.”

Chelsea who beat Tottenham 2-0 on Wednesday night, travel to Craven Cottage on Sunday hoping to get maximum points as the race for the top four hits up.
