On Thursday a Siaya court precided over the case filed by an elderly woman seeking to be saved from her murderous stepdaughter who has persistently been threatening to kill her.

78 year old Miriam Akoth Kuyo, told Siaya magistrate Tom Olando that her life has been characterised by fear and violence from her stepdaughter, Pamela Kuyo who has been charged with threatening her life.

Kuyo has been charged with threatening to kill the granny using a machete on October 14, 2018, at Murumba village in Sirembe sub location, Gem Sub County.

Testifying before the court, Akoth said that Kuya has been using violence and threatening to kill her if she insists on staying at her matrimonial home which the stepdaughter wanted her to vacate.

A witness, Erick Ochieng who is a caretaker at the home, said on the material day, the complainant was standing at the balcony of her house when the accused appeared wielding a panga.

A commotion ensued, as the elderly woman raised the alarm that attracted the caretaker, forcing the step-daughter to take off.

The grandmother said that the accused had a criminal past, adding that she was convicted in a Nairobi court for assaulting her maid whom she burnt with hot water.

There was a light moment in court when the grandmother narrated that the accused has four children, all with different fathers.

In her defence, Kuyo denied the charges, saying that she was nowhere near her stepmother on the material time she was accused of threatening her as she had gone to fetch water.

The magistrate adjourned the case to March 12.
