The death of former Dandora based activist Caroline Mwatha left the Country with more questions than answers.
Two different theories were used to explain her murder. One was that she had died after a botched abortion process at a Dandora Clinic. This was backed by the Police who released an official statement confirming the same.
Then came the murder theory that has widely been backed by Caroline’s fellow activists led by Boniface Mwangi.
It is therefore not clear what led to Caroline Mwatha’s death.
However, the trial of Four supects who have been linked with the death might just end up giving us some clue.
Four suspects, among them a woman, have been charged with murdering human rights activist Carol Mwatha Ochieng.
Ms Betty Akinyi Nyanya, Mr Michael Onyonka Onchiri, Mr Richard Ramoya and Mr Alexander Gitau Gikonya were arraigned on Wednesday at the High Court in Nairobi.
They were not required to plead to the charge as three of the suspects did not have legal representation.
Justice Stella Mutuku directed the case to be mentioned on March 4 for the accused to take plea.
The suspects will also be taken for mental tests to establish if they are fit to stand trial.
The unrepresented suspects told the court that they will engage lawyers to defend them.
