Governor Waiguru cautioned for sending letters to EACC Boss

EACC Boss Twalib Mbarak has urged Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru to hold her horses after she sent out 6 letters following up on the Ksh791 million NYS scandal.

Twalib noted that Waiguru should be patient as EACC is working on a handful of cases, adding that Waiguru’s case is not special.

“The case is being handled. She will get feedback through the normal process. There is no need to rush just because she is a governor. Her case is not special,” he noted.

Waiguru revealed her frustrations over what she termed as lies by Josephine Kabura Irungu, a chief suspect in the NYS I scandal.

In her complaint, the Kirinyaga County governor explained that it had been three years since the case was mentioned through a social media post.

Waiguru wrote her sixth letter on 14th February 2019 inquiring on the progress of her case, alleging that the accused, Josephine Kabura, had presented a false affidavit.

‘‘Since then, there has been no progress on the matter and Kenyans are still in the dark about why Kabura lied and on whose instructions she undertook to perjure herself,” she expressed.

In court papers at the time, Kabura revealed that Waiguru introduced her to doing business with NYS and even helped her register the companies used in the dubious dealings.

Waiguru was accused that during her tenure as the Devolution CS, she aided in the swindling Ksh791 million from the National Youth Service Scandal (NYS) money.

At the height of the case, Waiguru resigned indicating that her doctor had advised her to ditch the CS post and recommended that she should take “lighter duties”.
