School commits to re-admit blind student who was raped and miscarried

The Kapenguria School of the Blind principal David Losil has said that the school is ready to re-admit one of their students who miscarried once she is fully recovered.

The blind Form One girl had to be rushed to hospital two weeks after reporting to school, upon which doctors said she was pregnant and miscarried.

Losil said the institution was not aware who was responsible of her pregnancy since the incident happened outside the institution.

“We discovered that the girl was pregnant barely two weeks after admitting her to the institution. We later leant that she miscarriage   according to the medical report obtained from the hospital. But we are willing to re admit her back to continue with her education,” Mr Losil said.

Police confirmed that the case was booked at Kakuma police station in Turkana West Sub County with the OB number 42/1/2/2019.

Kakuma police boss Joseph Cheruiyot said the suspect was arrested and took plea in court.

Mr Losil said they have condemned the heinous act done to her and called for justice to prevail because this is a case of abuse of disable persons.
