Another Blow to Liverpool’s Hunt for Premier League Title

Liverpool’s next two Premier League matches are against Watford and Everton.

The Hornets will visit Anfield on Wednesday night, while Everton host the Reds on Sunday.

Liverpool are currently top of the Premier League, a point ahead of Man City.

Yet, there’s the overriding sense following last weekend’s 0-0 draw with Man United that Liverpool have thrown away a golden opportunity to stake their claim for this season’s title.

The sense that Liverpool’s title challenge has hit the skids may be further emphasised by the latest update regarding Roberto Firmino.

Firmino was injured for Liverpool on Sunday at Old Trafford.

The Brazilian was subbed out the game in the first half, while Daniel Sturridge came off the bench.

Firmino sustained an ankle injury against United.

The South American incurred the injury in a freak circumstance as Firmino landed awkwardly on his right ankle when he tried to play a simple ball forward to Mo Salah.

How will Jurgen Klopp line up his attack without Firmino?

The German appears to have three options. Daniel Sturridge could be drafted into the starting XI to replace the South American.

Alternatively, Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane could be shifted into a more central role. That could see Xherdan Shaqiri start in midfield.
