Ruthless DCI Kinoti Boldly Reshuffles Police Bosses to Curb Excessive Crime

In a move to enhance crime mitigation in the country, the Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti has announced new changes affecting the top hierarchy at the DCI.

DCI Assistant Inspector General of Police John Gachomo has been appointed as the new head of the Anti-Terrorism Police Unit (ATPU).

Gachomo replaces former ATPU boss Nyale Munga who has been named the new Director of Planning at the DCI headquarters.

Nairobi DCI Chief Ireri Kamwende is the new Director of Forensic Investigations at the headquarters.

North Eastern DCI chief Mohammed Amin has also been moved in the latest reshuffle and transferred to the National Focal Point and Small Arms.

Gideon Kibunja has also been moved and named the new commandant of the DCI Training School, South C.

He previously served as the Rift Valley DCI boss.

Those moved included Divisional Criminal Investigations Officers (DCIOs) Jeremiah Ikiao (Buruburu), Nyaga Gichungi (Kayole), Ali Bure (Makadara), Daniel Kiptum (Langata) and Douglas Chikanda (Kasarani).

Mandera East DCIO Henry Kiambati was named as the new boss at Makadara.

Kinoti also moved Kiambu County Criminal Investigations Officer (CCIO) Amos Tebeny and most of the DCIOs in the area.

More changes were expected Monday when Inspector General of police Joseph Boinnet was to announce new 390 Officers Commanding Police Division (OCPDs). Administration Police service got 100 slots in the new changes.The changes are part of reforms that have been proposed.
