Oparanya Summoned Over Enormous Health Debts at Counties.

As counties and national governments are tussling it out to have striking nurses get back to work from the ongoing strike that is now 3 weeks old, county Governments have been accused of acting in bad faith with medical suppliers over enormous amount of debts that might cripple the healthcare services across the country again.

A shortage of drugs might soon hit public hospitals and healthcare centers as county governments have failed to pay the Kenya Medical Supplies Agency (Kemsa) about Sh2.4 billion.

Well-placed sources further reveal that the looming crisis in the health sector has prompted the Senate on Health to summon KakamegaCounty Governor who is the Chairman of Council of governors (CoG) Wycliffe Oparanya to explain why county administrations have delayed the payments.
