The Ethics and Anti Corruption commission boss Twalib Mbarak has opened investigations into his own officers accused of working with some National Land Commission (NLC) officials in fraudulent compensation and valuation of Standard Gauge Railway (SGR) land due to their interests.

According to The Standard, Mbarak ordered all pending files concerning NLC investigations to be forwarded to his desk for determination on the next course of action.

The papers under review were the Phase one Compensation that caused friction between NLC and those who claimed to be the residents’ deserving compensation.

The papers indicated that NLC officials reportedly conspired with EACC personnel to pay undeserving people and companies billions of shillings.

In January, the National land commission caved in to pressure and released Ksh4 billion as part of the compensation for the second phase.

Director of Public Prosecutions Noordin Hajji recently ordered investigations into EACC Commissioner Paul Mwaniki Gachoka’s law firm over its alleged involvement in a Ksh8 billion land scam.
