‘Marriage turned to a battlefield’ Woman hire six men to kill her husband

One Bungoma woman was arraigned in court on Friday for allegedly killing her husband over.

The woman who is in police custody in Kapsokwony, Mt Elgon constituency allegedly killed her husband and dumped his body in a sugarcane plantation after a prolonged family dispute.

The man’s body was discovered with multiple injuries including deep cuts on the morning of Thursday, February 21.

Chemuses Sub-location Assistant Chief Richard Ndiwa confirmed the arrest saying the couple had been having family disputes for a long time and that it could have caused the unfortunate incident.

“A 52-year-old man, Gabriel Iyat Ekodoi, was attacked with crude weapons, his right hand was broken and body had multiple injuries,” said the administrator.

Ndiwa further stated a mobile phone was recovered from the scene.

“We are informed that the suspect hired six killers who took the deceased from his house on the night of Wednesday, February 20, killed him and dumped the body in a nearby sugarcane plantation,” he added.

Locals led by Mzee Andrew Okanyamit condemned the killing calling on the police to step up investigations into the murder and bring culprits to book.

“This is unfortunate, the couple had been engaging in wrangles and we wouldn’t imagine it would lead to this, the deceased children identified two suspects who killed their father, let the security agencies arrest them for justice to prevail,” said Okanyamit.

The body of the deceased was taken to Dreamland hospital mortuary in Kimilili.
