Nicki Minaj is among those who are mourning the loss of iconic designer Karl Lagerfeld. The fashion luminary passed away in Paris at the age of 85, leaving his loved ones in somber disbelief.
The rapper managed to string some words together to express her admiration for Lagerfeld, an affectionate message shared with her social media following.
The emcee posted a picture of herself standing next to the man in black and recalled her earliest memories of the industry giant.
“My biggest fashion inspiration is gone. Can’t quite put my feelings into words,” her caption began, before addressing the deceased. “Dear Karl, you made a little girl from Queens want to be glamorous. I prayed I’d get to work with you b4 one of us left this earth, thank you for making my dreams come true.”
She goes on to describe how he had reassured her during a shoot when others had casted doubt on her style.
“When everyone on set was afraid you’d think my hair was too long, you pulled me to the side & said “brilliant!!!” 😢 Thank you,” she concluded. “You are the best to ever do it. Genius. Icon. Game changer. Can’t imagine the fashion world w/o you. Rest In Peace. Legends never die.”
