How Chelsea’s transfer ban could have a knock on effect for Newcastle United this summer

Newcastle United’s hopes of signing Kenedy on a full-time basis could well have taken a dent after Chelsea were frozen out of the transfer market.

The Blues have been walloped by FIFA for breaching rules on signing players under the age of 18.

Maurizio Sarri is under immense pressure at Stamford Bridge and whoever is their next boss could have to work in difficult circumstances.

But with Chelsea having 41 players out on loan many of them could get recalled next season as the club look to reshape their squad, including Kenedy.

United fans will not be too worried to hear news on Kenedy as he has had a poor season for the Magpies but Rafa Benitez would still be interested in a permanent deal if the price was right next summer.

He feels if he can get the Brazilian player settled down and focused after a permanent move he could rediscover his best form.

After Chelsea were hit with a ban, a statement read: “This ban applies to the club as a whole, with the exception of the women’s and futsal teams, and does not prevent the release of players.”

FIFA has also fined Chelsea £460,000 ($599,000) and given them a 90-day deadline “to regularise the situation of the minor players concerned.”

Newcastle have other players on their watch list at Chelsea including Michy Batshuayi, Lewis Baker and previous target Tammy Abraham.
