Chelsea Boss Sarri Explains Kante Strategy – But Pundits SAVAGE Manager’s Decision

Pundit Steve Nicol who can’t understand how a player who has won individual accolades in two of the past three seasons can be criticised.

Kante won the PFA Player of the Year award during his first season at Chelsea as he helped them lift the Premier League under Antonio Conte.

This came after a debut season in England with Leicester ended in the greatest title triumph in history.

However, Kante has been shifted out of his preferred position to accommodate Sarri’s summer signing Jorginho.

“Is that where you get the best out of Kante? No chance. Alejandro Moreno.

The former Napoli midfielder was rested for their Europa League victory over Malmo on Thursday but Sarri instead opted to play Matteo Kovacic rather than return Kante to his more effective position.

Sarri has faced mass criticism for that decision but he has said: “In that position, I want to play a player who is able to move the ball very fast.

“This is not the best characteristic of N’Golo. N’Golo is vey useful for us but this isn’t his best characteristic.”

But ESPN’s Nicol is not buying Sarri’s argument and refuted his claims about Kante’s distribution.

He said: “If you’re the best player in the country, according to everybody else over the last couple of years.

“But you can’t pass the ball – how does that work?

“It’s absolute nonsense.”
