At least five people killed in Baringo after bandit attack

A contingent of security personnel has been deployed to Kapindasum area of Baringo County following a banditry attack that claimed the lives of at least five people.

Baringo County Commissioner Henry Wafula says among the victims are three secondary school students who were home for their mid-term break.

The attack at Kapendasum Village in Arabal location caught residents’ off-guard following months of relative calm in the region.

The 3 am incident forced the regional security committee to deploy contingents of security personnel to pursue those behind the heinous act.

The raiders are said to have made away with one rifle belonging to one of the police reservists and some livestock.

Tension remains high in the area amid vigilance from officers drawn from the General Service Unit and the well trained Anti-Stock Theft Unit, ATPU.
