Sex education will reduce HIV infections- Molo MP

The sex education debate has once again risen, having been brought up Molo MP Francis Kimani.

The MP speaking in Nakuru town, said times have changed and it is high time that sex education is included in the curriculum.

“With the new technology in place, even young school children have learnt a lot and therefore, should be assisted on matters of sex education by introducing the same in curriculum,” he said.

“This will help address vices such early pregnancies and high rate of HIV infections among youths,” he added.

This comes after last year’s rampant cases of KCPE and KCSE students being pregnant and having to deliver babies amid that national examinations periods.

The debate on introducing sex education in both primary and secondary school fizzled into thin air.

The proposals were heard three years ago during the launch of the National Adolescent Sexual Reproductive Health Policy (ASPRH) 2015.

This however failed upon meeting the Senate, as they claimed that it was an attempt to ‘spoil children’.
