Governor Sang enquires unnamed persons on Joho-accused drug case

Nandi County Governor Stepehen Sang’ has come out to demand the naming of unidentified persons connected with an alleged drug peddling business in which Mombasa Governor Joho was said to be a part of.

Mr. Sang, among a section of other Jubilee leaders, early this month accused Governor Joho of being involved in drug trafficking.

Denying the claims, governor Joho on February 5 filed a defamation case against the Jubilee leaders.

Sang now wants the release of the unidentified persons to help him file his response to Joho’s defamation before he appears in court.

Mr. Sang – in a letter through his lawyer addressed Cabinet Secretaries Fred Matiang’i (Interior) Raychelle Omamo (Defense), and I.G Joseph Boinnet – questioning why the identities of the owners of the consignment in the ship were yet to be revealed.

“On or about 29th August 2014, the State under the supervision of the President, various Cabinet Secretaries, the Inspector General of Police blew up a luxury hatch referred to as Amin Darya or MV Alnoor that had been laden with 370.8 kilograms of heroin valued at Ksh.1.3 billion, this was a bold move to declare war against drugs trafficking,” read the letter.

The letter was also copied to Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti, International Central Bureau (Interpol), Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), Office of the President of the Republic of Kenya as well as the Registrar of the Kenyan Judiciary.
