Court releases Marsabit MPs after failing to find charges

Ali Rasso Dido and Francis Chachu Ganya

Marsabit Members of Parliament Ali Rasso Dido and Francis Chachu Ganya had to be released on Thursday after the court failed to prefer any charges against them.

The Saku and North Horr MPs were in October 2018 taken in over allegations of inciting violence in Marsabit County leading to the death of at least 14 people.

Prosecution asked for a further 14 days to conclude the matter.

The Milimani Law Courts Magistrate Bernad Nzakyo however dismissed the prayer saying the four months prosecution had been granted earlier was enough.

The court further directed that Ksh.250,000 which was deposited by the duo in court as cash bail be returned to them.
