Central MP flaws referendum bid

Hon. Kimani Ichung’wa

A legislature from Central Kenya has revealed on Thursday that the overrated referendum campaign will suffer a blow from the Mount Kenya people.

Kimani Ichung’wa, Kikuyu MP dismissed the idea saying Central Kenya was disproportionately represented in the National Assembly and, therefore, it would be unfair for MPs to choose the Prime Minister.

Kimani tweeted that central Kenya has no foolish people to be dragged in the new leadership styles as proposed in the new referendum.

Deputy President William Ruto, a close ally of Ichung’wah, has rubbished creation of the PM post, saying it is unnecessary.

On his part, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria proposes reintroduction of the premier’s office whose occupant will be elected directly by the people and who will also be an MP.
