Mauro Icardi’s wife Wanda Nara has turned to be a conniving agent for the star at Inter Milan Boardroom and almost seen as the decider for his career path.
Especially now as Icardi’s contract talks with Inter are slowly destroying his relationship with the club, and throwing his future in doubt, she has become a key figure in the future of Italian football.
Icardi, 26, was last week stripped off his captaincy and refused to travel for Inter’s Europa League last-32 first leg with Rapid Vienna.
The issue has been fuelled by comments from Icardi’s wife and agent, Wanda Nara, on Italian TV and social media.
Inter coach Luciano Spalletti said “real contact” was needed.
Spalletti said: “Some problems aren’t resolved via chat, videos and ‘likes’ but with words and being together.”
Just recently, Wanda posted a message, referring to Icardi’s Inter exit rumours, on Twitter which said: “Shameful !!!! Keep on saying these crap is even more dangerous.The truth is always and only one !!”
The report points out that Icardi is running out of allies at Inter, with only four of his teammates liking an Instagram post from the club’s official account wishing him a happy birthday yesterday.
The recent chain of events have seen Icardi’s reputation and that of his wife-agent get tarnished.
She has sent shockwaves through the Inter hierarchy, and is making more headlines than her husband as it stands.
Icardi married Wanda in 2014 after she divorced his former team-mate Maxi Lopez.
It was her unbending handling of the current contractual saga that shrouds Icardi, both in meetings and on Mediaset’s football talk-show Tika Taka, of which she is a recurring panellist, that led to the stripping of Mauro’s captaincy.
Her criticism of the club and its players has been unflinching, her flaunting of her prized asset/loving partner thinly veiled.
Even Icardi’s own sister Ivana believes it is Nara’s fault for Icardi’s Inter omission.
As quoted by CN24 and cited by Sport Witness on Twitter, Ivana claimed that if Icardi had “a serious person behind him”, none of this would have happened.
She added: “My poor brother, why does he continue to allow this? At Inter they don’t allow these attitudes.”
Last month Ivana had claimed Nara “has s*** for brains” after it was reported that she keeps calling ex-husband Maxi Lopez, who she left for Icardi in 2014.
The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Arsenal, Manchester United, while Chelsea and Real Madrid are also said to be interested.
However, Madrid reportedly pulled their interest in signing Icardi because of his wife-turned-agent.
One thing’s for sure: Wherever Icardi’s next chapter lies, Wanda Nara will be a key protagonist.
