Pupil charged with stealing from teacher in Siaya

We’ve all been through that stage in life as a child where we are faced with moral dilemmas and decided what route to go with, especially concerning teachers and fellow classmaes.

In this case, a class eight pupil from Siaya has been charged with stealing his teacher’s cell phone valued at Ksh.13,000.

Alvin Ogola appeared before Siaya Principal Magistrate’s Court Tom Olando on Wednesday.

The court heard that on February 16, 2019, the pupil allegedly stole a Techno T40 phone and Ksh.700 from his teacher Albert Agunda.

The incident allegedly occurred at the farm in Aluny Primary School in Umala sub-location, Alego sub-county.

Kennedy Ogola, the child’s father, told the magistrate that his son had confided in him that he indeed took the phone and hid it in a nearby bush.

Mr. Ogola said he found the phone where his son had told him but pleaded for leniency.

The Magistrate then decided to release the boy but with a stern warning after the complainant said he was ready to withdraw the case.
