Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has publicly come out to oppose the handing over of Kenya Airports Authority(KAA) to Kenya Airways .
Babu Owino mentioned that the Public investment committee, yesterday, intervened on the ‘fraudulent and immoral’ handing over of Kenya Airports Authority(KAA) to Kenya Airways which he say is currently owned by AIR KLM a private entity.
The vocal MP said that Kenyans must not allow such heinous act which will lead to most people losing their jobs at JKIA.
Babu Owino describes the handover as scandalous and says that he strongly opposes it.
Last month, The MP stated that he will mobilize his colleagues in parliament to reject this proposal.
Babu Owino highlighted that he is not confident with the KQ management in regard to their background and records of losses.
In their proposal, KQ suggests to form a Special Purpose Vehicle that would bring together themselves and the Kenya Airports Authority to operate, maintain and develop JKIA.
He also called upon the President to veto this proposal and save the tax payers from any further losses at the hands of KQ’s management.
Despite this opposition some however feel that KQ should take over JKIA and be competitive like Emirates as well as the rest of big airlines.
They also believes that If KQ grows many Kenyans will be employed and the economy will prosper.
Others Kenyans however, side with Babu Owino over the matter.
