Manchester United bounced back from their defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in fine fashion with a 2-0 win over Chelsea in the FA Cup.
Since taking charge in December, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has led the Reds to 11 wins from 13 games and restored the side’s attacking style of play. It’s been a real return to the club’s roots. The emphatic nature of United’s recent displays can be harked back to when Sir Alex Ferguson was in charge – who guided the club to countless domestic and European trophies.
And the main man himself was at Stamford Bridge on Monday to watch a very special fifth round performance. United produced a strong and resilient display as both Ander Herrera and Paul Pogba found the back of the net. The Reds also looked strong at the back with Chris Smalling and Victor Lindelof breaking down Eden Hazard and co.
But when the centre-backs couldn’t stop Chelsea’s attack Sergio Romero was on hand to produce a series of fine stops.
And with his former side just seconds from booking a spot in the FA Cup quarter-finals, it was no surprise to see Ferguson beaming in injury time.
This didn’t go unnoticed from fans who were thrilled to see the Scot so happy.
