“Let Her Do What She Wants!” Maina Kageni Comes to the Defence of Akothee’s Raunchy Performance!

Akothee has been the subject of ridicule for quite a number of netizens, after photos of her raunchy gyrations on stage went viral.

The dance, which has triggered massive backlash on Twitter and by the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) chairman Ezekiel Mutua at the forefront of the charge.

While writing on his Facebook page, the director posted the following:

“Kenya has got talent but as long as we keep celebrating this kind of madness, our entertainment industry will never grow. Akothee is talented but the filthy and stupid stunts she has to pull to remain relevant should concern all of us. What’s worse is to see grown-up men and women celebrating this scatological obscenity in the name of entertainment. We have lost it as a nation.”

On the other hand, a majority of Kenyans have come out to defend Akothee, with Classic FM’s Maina Kageni leading the charge. He was quoted on his popular radio show saying:

“She has made it very clear that she is not a role model for anyone. She just does Akothee, so let her be. You don’t like her stuff or her brand, don’t follow her.”

He then told the singer to remember to ignore all the reactions that come hand to hand with the negativity.

Nonetheless, Maina has faced censorship threats from Ezekiel Mutua in the past.

At one time, he was threatened by the chairman that his show was s3xually explicit to Kenyans.
