Tension remains high along the border of Turkana and West Pokot counties due to the recent spate of rustling and bandit attacks around Kainuk and its environs along the border of the two Counties.

This is amid accusation and counter-accusation of political leaders from either side as they point fingers at each other.

MPs from Turkana accuse West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo while those from West Pokot blame Turkana South MP James Lomenen for incitement.

Three people were killed on Sunday when bandits from one of the two warring communities attacked their rivals.

Clashes paralysed transport at the border for hours before police restored order.

“We therefore call on members of the public to cooperate with Police Officers in an effort to deal with the rustlers who are out to wreck the peace and trust that the local residents have built amongst themselves.”
