Slain Human Activist Caroline Mwatha honoured by Colleagues

Former colleagues of the slain human rights activist Caroline Mwatha have honored her by drawing her graffiti on the container that houses their offices.

The Dandora Community Justice Centre (DCJC) on Sunday drew Ms Mwatha’s image  next to that of the former President of Burkina Faso Thomas Sankara, who is often described as Africa’s most revolutionary leader ,32 years after his assassination.

In a statement, DCJC explained that the graffiti of Mwatha, who was known for standing up against the police, will ensure that her spirit lives on.

“Your legacy remains. You were a voice of reason. The community can attest to that,” the organization stated.

Apart from being a founder member of DCJC, Mwatha also worked as a researcher at the centre until her death.

Caroline’s live graffiti was installed during a tribute concert where different artistes performed.

Caroline’s burial has been set for Saturday February 23, 2019 in Asembo bay, Siaya County.

Caroline’s body was found at the City Mortuary this week after word of her disappearance was shared on social media.

According to the post-mortem results, Caroline died of excessive bleeding from a ruptured uterus after a botched abortion.
