Police in Memphis, looking to apprehend ex-con now rapper for drug and gun possession

On Saturday (Feb. 16) a tweet from the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office Twitter account announced JB was a wanted man in connection with multiple crimes and sought any information about his whereabouts. “SCSO needs help in locating James Baker,22, better known as BlocBoy JB,” the tweet reads. “Baker is wanted for poss of drugs & drug paraphernalia, a convicted felon in poss of a handgun, & for theft of prop. Anyone with tips regarding Baker’s location is asked to contact law enforcement.” The tweet is accompanied by JB’s mugshot.

The Memphis rapper has been enjoying breakout success since the release of his hit song “Look Alive” featuring Drake in February 2018 and earned a spot on the 2018 XXL Freshman class. He released his latest project, Don’t Think That, last October.

Last November, he got into an altercation with German police while touring abroad after claiming they put hands on him. That is clearly unrelated to the charges in the U.S.

In January, it was revealed BlocBoy is suing the creators of the popular game Fortnite for using the “Shoot” dance he made famous on the game without his permission or proper compensation. Music-wise, he recently dropped the video for his track “Clap Out.”

XXL tried to reach out to BlocBoy JB’s team for a comment.
