ODM Feels the Effect of Obado’s Rebellion as One of Their Offices is Closed in Migori Over Rent Arrears

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party office in West Sakwa ward, Migori County, has been closed over accumulated rent arrears amounting to Ksh.54, 000.

According to West Sakwa ODM party youth leader Evance Otieno, the office has been under lock-and-key for three months now after elected leaders who were paying the rent boycotted.

The region’s party Chairman, Juma Akoko, stated that they are presently looking for modalities to have a party ward office.

However, MCA Nestory Owiyo, said he had offered a room in his ward office for meetings as they look for a solution to the rent issues.

He also revealed that he had had offered to pay Ksh.20,000 to help in settling the arrears, adding that he advised other party leaders to contribute the remaining Ksh.34, 000.

This comes after the region has of late been marred by politics between those supporting governor Obado, who seems to have defied the region’s kingpin former Prime minister Raila Odinga.

The rift was widely seen during the recent Migori by-election of the senatorial seat between the ODM Ochilo Ayacko and Federal Party of Kenya candidate Eddy Gicheru in October las year.
