National Transport and Safety Authority has today revoked a driver’s license following the fatal crash involving KBH 267J/ZF 8069 belonging to Multi Energy Limited that claimed the lives of 8 passengers at Chepsir, Nakuru.

The collision occurred after the trailer, which was traveling from Kisumu going towards Nakuru swerved from its lane hitting the 14-seater matatu which was travelling in the opposite direction.

Preliminary investigations into the cause of the crash indicates that the driver was descending in the climbing lane towards oncoming traffic without due care causing a head on collision with the PSV Reg. No. KCN belonging to South Rift Sacco.

NTSA noted that the revocation was necessitated by the fact that the driver is a danger to all road users and should never be allowed to drive on Kenyan roads.

The Authority also cautioned motorists that similar action shall be taken against drivers who disregard traffic rules.

Further, following another crash involving Green Line Bus Company (Reg. No. KBN 701N) and a trailer (Reg. No. KCM 259K/ZF 6279) where 9 passengers lost their lives at Kamara area, the officials of the bus company have been summoned to appear before the Authority on Wednesday 20th February 2019.

NTSA mentioned that they  shall take appropriate action after the meeting.
