France President Macron Emmanuel to Visit Kenya Next Month

French President Emmanuel Macron is set to make a two-day State visit to Kenya in mid next month.

President Uhuru said he is looking forward to hosting the French President after French Ambassador Aline Kuster-Menager confirmed that Macron will visit the country.

Ms Kuster-Menager paid a courtesy call on President Uhuru Kenyatta at State House, Nairobi on Monday

Uhuru said he looked forward and expects the visit to break new ground in the bilateral relations between Kenya and France.

“Traditionally, Kenya and France enjoy strong bilateral ties and I am pleased that we’ve continued to deepen the relations. I look forward to the visit by President Macron,” he said.

Kenya and France are expected to sign several agreements and MoUs covering various subjects of mutual interest between the two countries during Macron’s visit.

The proposed rapid transit train service between Nairobi Central Business District and the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport is among projects expected to feature prominently when Uhuru hosts the French leader in Nairobi.

The visit will be the French president’s first to Kenya following a high-profile tour of West Africa in 2018.

President Macron is aiming at increasing France’s global influence beginning with Africa, especially aimed at redefining relationships with former French colonies.
