Britam Tower Stands Out at Global Architecture  and Design Awards

The Britam Tower Located at Upper Hill in Nairobi was named the best building in Africa in the 2018 Emporis Skyscraper Awards.  This breathtaking skyscraper saw Kenya emerge top in an international architecture awards event held in Germany.

The Britam Tower was assessed among other buildings in Europe, Asia and the United States that included Generali Tower in Milan, Chicago’s 150 North Riverside and Riverpoint.

The top spot went to the Lotte World Tower in Seoul, South Korea.

The building  received the Emporis Skyscraper Award which makes it the only skyscraper in Africa to feature among the top ten buildings in the world in the award’s nine-year history.

Britam Tower also featured in the world’s top 10 buildings, becoming the first in Africa, in the history of the awards.

Britam Tower, developed by Britam Properties Limited, is the tallest building in East and Central Africa, rising from Nairobi’s skyline at 200 meters, and is Britam’s flagship project for its property strategy.

“Britam Tower by GAPP Architects and Triad Architects was the first skyscraper in Africa to feature in the top ten Emporis Skyscraper Award’s list. It made its way to the tenth position among other outstanding skyscrapers in the world,” Emporis said in a statement.

The 31-storey skyscraper offers Scenic and spectacular views of the capital and surrounding areas, like the Nairobi National Park.

On clear days, one can view both Mount Kenya and Mount Kilimanjaro in Tanzania from the top of the building.

The Emporis Skyscraper Awards is the only prize for high-rise buildings awarded annually and on a global basis.

The Emporis Skyscraper Award is the world’s most renowned prize for high-rise architecture.Winners are chosen by a jury of architectural experts from all over the world, while the nominated buildings are judged based on their achievements in functions and aesthetics.

Some of Nairobi’s other high-rise buildings include Times Tower, UAP Old Mutual Tower and KICC.
