On Saturday, nine people were reported to have died after an oil tanker rammed into the 12 seater shuttle they were traveling in.

The crash that happened at the Chepsir Trading Center on Kericho-Nakuru highway was reported at 6pm and only 4 of the 12 occupants of the shuttle survived.

Kericho OCPD Justus Kitetu said the Nakuru bound oil tanker was using the wrong lane and the matatu was doomed because the truck was descending at high speeds on the climbing lane.
Survivors are recuperating at Kericho County Referral Hospital.
