Why Obado is putting his notorious opposer’s life in danger

Migori Governor Okoth Obado could once again find him in trouble if Kuria East lawmaker Marwa Kitayama’s new allegations are anything to go by.

Marwa, a strong critic of the county chief now claims that Obado has issued him, his family and a county employee with death threats, only weeks after their public spat.

It all began about a fortnight ago when the two faced off in Kuria East where Obado had gone to open the Kuria East Sub-County offices.

Marwa openly criticized the Governor for discriminating Isibania and Kehancha towns in the Ksh516 upgrade plan sponsored by the World Bank.

He took issue with Obado’s plans to only concentrate on Rongo and Awendo Towns which are on the Luo speaking side of the county.

Speaking on Thursday, Kitayama added that the Governor is also using his cronies to threaten him.

“This issue has taken a new dimension and now the governor is using his cronies to threaten me. I have reported the matter to the DCI and I hope action will be taken,” he told the Nation.

He has since reported the same to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations in Nairobi.

The scuffle also saw Obado heckled down and comes amid his ongoing court case where he is accused of involvement in the murder of former Rongo University student Sharon Otieno last year.
