On February 4 in Fort Collins mountains, 31 years old Travis Kauffman was running beneath the pine trees when his instincts warned him something wasn’t right.

It was known that the lion was about to maul a man whose identity wasn’t known until yesterday, 14th Feb.

Travis was headed to a trail when the lion pounced on him. The king of the jungle dug its jaws on his arms before attempting to claw on his face.

‘It was going up towards my face so I threw up my hands to kind of block my face, at which point it grabbed onto my hand and wrist and from there it started to claw at my face and neck. And that’s when kind of my fear response turned into more of a fight response,’ Said Travis

What followed was a session of wrestles as man and beast fought for life competed for life.

The young and energetic man recounts how he pinned down the beast, held its neck by his legs suffocating it to death.

After cutting the cat’s air supply, Travis took a rock and smashed its head and later watched it throw its death kicks.

Kauffman also revealed how his past life with big cats had trained him to handle and overpower the beasts.

From the scene, Kauffman rescued his life but with a badly bruised face, gushing bloody body and pains

Kauffman was later able to to hospital where he sought treatment. The Wildlife custodians of the park later explained how the man was lucky to leave the scene alive.
