Nairobi County lauded for its remarkable progress in planning and development

Nairobi County  has been commended for its remarkable progress in the planning as well as the  implementing of the development project.

This comes after the government held a county dialogue forum on Draft Fiscal Strategy Paper (CFSP)2019 to discuss on key findings and recommendations from sub-county public consultation forums which took place on 11th Monday, 2019 in the Sub-County.

In attendance during the meeting were; Chief Officers led by Chief Officer Economic Planning,Winfred Gathagu, various County Directors among other County Staff.

From the key findings it was notable across the County that the County Government has made commendable progress in engaging the public in planning and budgeting.

The County was also commended for its remarkable progress witnessed in Infrastructure, free ECDE, Disaster Response Service, Agricultural Extension Services, City Beautification and Health care.

The Public lauded the County citing that incidences of harassment by County Enforcement agencies has reduced though more needs to be done.

The participants welcomed the Countys’ move to devolve services to the Sub – County and ward levels saying it has brought services closer to the mwananchi.

However, the participants raised the following concerns; lack of detailed information on scope, cost and timelines of projects, lack of development committees in the ward level, moneys allocated to Agriculture and Health sectors is too low, projects appearing several years in County budget and not being implemented, and projects given to unqualified contractors among other issues.

The function was attended by people drawn from wards, civil societies, religious societies and business community representatives.
