Babu Owino welcomes court ruling over Baby Pendo’s case

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino has today welcomed the ruling of the Magistrate sitting in Kisumu on the matter of police misconduct during the period immediately after the 2017 General Election.

In her ruling, the Kisumu Resident Magistrate found that five top police officers have a case to answer over the murder of the late Baby Samantha Pendo who was cruelly clubbed to death by rogue police officers.

The MP says that his prayer is  that this small dose of justice will go some way in easing the pain of the Kisumu community following the multiple deaths that occurred during that time at the hands of brutal officers acting outside of their official orders to protect life and property.

Babu Owino is one of the Members of Parliament who has been vocal about  fighting for justice and  being solution providers to societal challenges.

“The police are meant to protect and serve not to destroy and kill. They must always remember that they exist for the benefit of the public and not the other way around.”he said in his post

He also added that he hopes that this ruling will signal the first steps towards a comprehensive reform of the security services as outlined in the Building Bridges Memorandum signed by H. E Uhuru Muigai Kenyatta and H. E Raila Odinga.
