Ms. Sheila Bwani, 26 year old,from Kakamega county has pleaded guilty before Justice Jesse Njagi in Kakamega to murdering her 6-year-old daughter in Kwisero sub county. She is also facing additional charges of attempted suicide and attempted murder.
She is said to have gone with her two children to the market in the village where she purchased pesticide. She ate the poison and fed the rest to her two children on their way back home. When they went back home her daughter went to a neighbor’s house to play, only to experience dizziness. She started vomiting before she collapsed and died. The daughter’s body was ferried to Yala Mortuary in Butere sub county.
While in court she says that her actions were provoked by the constant harassment from her close family members. She claim to have acted out of frustration and anger.
This comes after another woman,Emaculate Anyango, burnt her 7 years old son’s hands allegedly damaging her smart phone worth three thousand shillings only to blame evil spirits for her actions. The boy is said to have been rescued by his grandmother after he escaped and ran toward her house.
