MCK’s Crackdown on TV stations hosting fake religious leaders

As the world celebrates World Radio Day on 13th February, the Media Council of Kenya chief executive officer, David Omwoyo warns the media houses.

The rampant gospel shows filled with self-proclaimed pastors and prophets have gained the MCK’s attention. David Omwoyo has promised to crack a whip on stations that hosts fraudsters in the name of religious leaders.

Speaking on world radio day event, the CEO Hhighlighted that the mass has confidence in media stations and that everything that comes out of it is genuine and true.

“We will be taking stern actions against media houses that host fraudsters because that’s deceiving Kenyans who listen or watch that particular station. People who believe in your station are likely to believe what is said by the people you bring on your platform, therefore if you bring a fraudster people will believe him or her,” he said during the event.

Radio is a powerful tool that sets an agenda for the citizens and contributes a bigger percentage to the state of the nation. The CEO added that some stations use vulgar or improper language which affects the mass.
