Betty Akinyi linked to ‘miracle babies’ scandal by controversial Pastor Deya

Betty Akinyi, a clinical officer, is a prime suspect in activist’s Caroline Mwatha’s death.

Caroline Mwatha’s death, came when she was reported to be missing by Dandora police station.

The Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) on Tuesday evening released a statement regarding the death of activist Caroline Mwatha.

According to a statement seen and signed by DCI boss George Kinoti, the deceased was in constant communication with one Alexander Gitau Gikonya prior to her demise.

The suspects, in this case, are Michael Onchiri, Richard Ramoya Abudo, Alexander Gitau Gikonyo, Stephen Maina and George Achieng’ Tabitha and Betty Akinyi.

Betty Akinyi, the owner of Njiru clinic in Dandora is reported to have been jailed in 2005  for being involved in miracle babies scandal by Pastor Deya. Betty Akinyi is behind the stolen babies case where she helped register births of “miracle babies” who were stolen from their mothers. She was detained at Lang’ata womens prison for six months.

In 2005, she was believed to be a nurse and was operating a clinic called Gatheca Estate Nursing and Maternity home.

She now appears to be involved in activists Caroline Mwatha’s death as her clinic is involved. DCI, George Kinoti, stated investigators believe Mwatha died at the facility before the body was transferred to City Mortuary on February 7th, 2019.
