Its so sad in any whenever situations appear where the government is reminded of human rights yet it is their mandate to protect those rights.

A voice of the people,Journalist Peter Makori on Thursday instructed his lawyers to institute contempt of court charges against the Attorney-General Paul Kariuki, and other state officials who’ve frustrated his bid to get Ksh12million award.

In 2018, the High Court issued orders compelling the AG to pay Makori the amount as compensation for torture, unlawful detention and malicious prosecution two decades ago.

Makori was arrested about 16 years ago while reporting on the killing of two chiefs in Bonchari, Kisii County.

He was later charged with the killing of an assistant chief, whose body was found in Bokeire sub-location.

According to Makori, the Flying Squad officers tortured him while in custody in a bid to extract a false confession.

His lawyer Ken Bosire made a follow up in November 2018 but was told that his file had gone missing.

More so, he claimed that the compensation was still not enough to enable him sustain his medication, which he has spent tens of thousands of dollars in various hospitals in America.

High Court Judge Kalpana Rawal, now retired, affirmed the ruling on October 24, 2011, and directed the government to pay the award together with accrued interest.
