You Won’t Believe What Ole Gunnar Solskjaer Did Before Landing The Man Utd Job For Real

The Norwegian was drafted in as caretaker manager eight weeks ago following the sacking of Jose Mourinho.

And taken care Solskjaer has, winning 10 out of 11 games in charge as United have gone from 11 points off top four to fourth with a one-point lead on their chasers.

As well as progress in the league, the Red Devils have progressed to the FA Cup fifth round, but their biggest test yet comes tonight in the Champions League.

Mourinho was fired one day after United were drawn against PSG – a tie which, at the time, looked a write-off.

But such has the revival under Solskjaer been that United are favourites heading into tonight’s game under the Old Trafford lights.

Solskjaer has made clear his desire to secure the full-time role – a position which he revealed he pretended to hold in his head.

Speaking to BT Sport, Solskjaer said: “Of course I want this job.

“Any manager in the world would want this job. So I’m no different to anyone else.

“I’ve had a view of Manchester United over the last few years, of course.

“‘What I would have done if I was there?’ You pretend you’re the manager of Man United at times, don’t you.”

Key to Solskjaer’s success has been Paul Pogba’s turnaround.

The Frenchman has scored eight goals in nine league appearances under the 45-year-old and Solskjaer lauded his talisman ahead of the arrival of PSG.

“Paul (Pogba) is one of the best attacking midfielders in the world,” he added.

“His physical presence, his aura, his personality – he’s been a big plus for everyone.”
