Police arrest two suspects with bhang worth Sh4.5 million

Police in Nairobi have  arrested two suspects in connection with the uncouth business of  drug trafficking.

The suspects were nabbed at Kahawa Sukari estate while offloading bhang whose worth is estimated to be  Sh4.5 million.

According to police reports, the bhang was transported to Kahawa Sukari estate in a petrol tanker and the two suspects were repacking the substance by putting rolls in sacks.

Kiambu County Commander Adiel Nyange said they received a tip-off from members of the public who saw the men offloading suspicious items from the vehicle and repackinging them swiftly.

He said they responded immidiately and managed to nab the two while still in action. The suspects will be arraigned to court today to answer to charges of being in possession of illegal drugs.

“The two will be taken to court on Tuesday (Today) as we investigate where they were transporting the bhang from,” said Mr Nyange.

The county commissioner said the police will carry out a thorough investigation to determine the other culprits behind the ilegal business.

The dealer is believed to be one of the notorous suspects Kiambu police are closely monitoring.

The petrol tanker in which bhang worth Sh4.5 million was found by police at Kahawa Sukari estate in Nairobi on February 11, 2019.

On February 3, police nabbed bhang with a street value of more than Sh3 million in Emali along Mombasa-Nairobi highway.

They found the 6,180 rolls of bhang stuffed in sacks in a private car whose occupants abandoned it when they realised officers on patrol were following them.

None of the people said to have been transporting the bhang to Mombasa County were apprehended as they fled on foot.
