Marsabit residents serve leaders muddy water in protest

Residents of Karare area in Marsabit County showed up with bottles of muddy water at a meeting called by their leaders.

The leaders had called locals for a meeting, for them to support the establishment of a municipality.

However, the residents, in the plight that they have had enough of their leaders prioritising the wrong things, showed up with muddy water which they placed at the “high table” where the dignitaries would seat.

“Our problem is water, not a municipality,” said a local, defending their actions, adding that they had decided on the move as a way of showing their displeasure on water contamination and shortage in the area.

In January, 147 camels died after drinking contaminated water in Karare and Elehadi villages in Marsabit North Horr sub-county.
