Striking nurses in Kisii County who received show cause letters have less than a day; until Wednesday, to respond individually to their letters of discipline.

The order was given through a letter from the county secretary Patrick Lumumba to the chief officer health which stated that headcount will be done to establish which nurses have returned to work and those who have not.

Lumumba has said that any threat, intimidation, incitement and obstruction of any nurse to report for duty shall be dealt with in accordance to the law.

The County secretary has further directed sub county health officers and the CEC in charge of administration to coordinate the headcount exercise of all striking nurses.

On Monday, the nurses’ union secretary Moses Riang’a said they will only respond to show cause letters received through their individual mail boxes and not sub county health offices
