If Central Kenya Complains about Lacking Projects, What Will Mandera Say?

Image result for governor robaMandera county has only seen one tarmac road since Kenya got its independence more than 50 years ago.

The tarmac road in the area is one which was commissioned by Governor Ali Roba in 2014.

On Monday, during an interview with Citizen TV, governor Roba confirmed that the one tarmac road have shown some fruits already, as Mandera town is more economically active than it was before.

The governor said that the residents were very happy upon seeing the road with some confessing that it was their first time ever seeing a roundabout apart from text books.

The road, which is 24 km is estimated to have cost the government 1.4 billion.

Roba further stated that the reason why the road took quite a long time is because of security concerns in the region.

Road CEC told journalists that frequent suspension of the project was due to insecurity in the region that is often witnessed in the region caused by Al-Shabaab terrorists.

For instance, one remembered incident was that of an improvised explosion device that saw 14 people lose their lives in June 2017 after their vehicle ran over the device.

The same year in November, an explosive went off after it was thrown to target a Catholic Church from a moving probox.

Also, in January, 2018, four children died of explosion from a device they were innocently playing with.
