Politics they say is a game of survival. You either this side or the other side. You are either in Government or the Opposition.
In Kenya, the Government side has been considered to be the best side for any individual with dreams of making the necessary positive steps in life.
With this in mind, let’s talk about William Ruto, a man considered by many as a political genius who has always got all his plans go his way since he ventured into the political world.
A few years back, Ruto was a man in the opposition fighting so hard to remove an oppresive regime from leadership. The man later fell out with Raila Odinga them Boom! he joined forces with Uhuru Kenyatta in what saw him become Kenya’s second in command.
His tenure as deputy President has however been marred by calls on a lifestyle audit on him as a section of politicians and Kenyans claim that he is the most corrupt individual in this country.
This therefore means that Ruto is more corrupt that the masterminds of the now famous Golden Berg and Anglo-Leasing scandals.
That aside, the question surrounding Ruto’s source of wealth has always caught up with him in almost all the interviews he has been subjected in.
He has however always avoided them. Ruto took his self defence on an international stage during an interview with BBC’s Stephen Sackur, who hosts the HARDtalk show.
Mr Ruto defended his track record as he claimed he is the only Kenyan Politician who has already been subjected to a Lifestyle audit, an audit Ruto claimed was carried out by the media and that it’s results are out there in the public Domain.
When Pressed by Journalist Sackur to produce evidence on the same, Ruto asked the Journalist to conform to the demands of time as he claimed that he (Sackur) was behind time. He even asked him to consult Google or Kenya’s Parliament Website.
“For you information, Sackur, you are behind the news on that matter. Every public figure, by law, is supposed to submit a list of assets and liabilities to the Speaker of the National Assembly. That I have done. The media has gone further to carry a lifestyle audit on William Ruto, the only politician who has been subjected to lifestyle audit by the media,” said Ruto.
“I encourage you, Sackur, to go to the website on Parliament and get that information” added Ruto.
