The National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale has cited that replacing the Inspector General is one of the priorities before the parliament as they resume their sittings Tuesday, February 12.
The Inspector General whose four-year term is to end this march has served since 2015.
However, before the house finds a suitable replacement of Boinnet, the house has first to consider nominees from the National Police Service Commission(NPSC).
Once the constitution of the NPSC is finished, it will invite application for the position of the Inspector General.
Currently, only two names that have been surfaced as potential replacement for the position include Edward Njoroge Mbugua, the current Deputy IG and Noor Gabbow, the head of Administration Police.
President Kenyatta may also consider appointing DCI Boss George kinoti or Philip Kimeru, Director General of the National Intelligence Service.
Though, the situation still lobbies for either Edward Njoroge Mbugua or Noor Gabbow.
NPSC will forward the preferred name to the president who will, in turn, forward it to parliament for vetting.
The successful candidate will serve for four years as mandated by the constitution.
