A look at Manchester United players who are now top coaches

Paul Scholes became the latest student of former Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson to enter the coaching fray after the former midfielder was named as the new man to take charge of Oldham Athletic.

However, apart from Scholes, there have been other players under Fergie who have made the strides in the coaching world is with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the current Manchester United manager leading the pack. Who are the others?

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

The current United manager and a Fergie boy, the Norwegian have had stints with Premier League side Cardiff City where he was roped in after building his reputation in his homeland Norway with Molde.

Bryan Robson

His career started well at Middlesbrough before moving to Bradford City, West Brom, Sheffield United and was last employed as a club manager in 2008. The 62-year-old led Thailand between 2009 and 2011.

Paul Ince

Started his coaching careers as a player-coach at Swindon Town before going to Macclesfield Town, MK Dons, Blackburn Rovers, Notts County, and Blackpool.

Steve Bruce

Bruce recently took charge of Sheffield Wednesday. He previously had stints with Birmingham City, Hull City, Wigan Athletic and Sunderland, and Aston Villa.

Mark Hughes

Had coaching stints at Blackburn Rovers, Manchester City, Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Stoke City, and Southampton.

Roy Keane

Keane who captained United and won 17 major titles at Old Trafford, was appointed Sunderland manager shortly after retiring in 2006 where he left for Ipswich Town. Had a role as an assistant coach Republic of Ireland and Aston Villa. He has now re-joined former Ireland boss Martin O’Neill at Nottingham Forest.
